Well I guess there are some great thing about this cold wet weather...
The apple blossoms are coming out teasingly slow and showy instead of all
at once like in a hot May. And the wild mushrooms are out in abundance
with help from the rain. In case you missed that first batch of wild Morels,
we received a few more yesterday. Also just in -- a batch of wild harvested
Wine-cap Stropharia (Stropharia rugosoannulata). There are still
a few fiddleheads, the cool weather is good for them too, if it gets hot,
they bolt and the season is over. Article
on fiddleheads here.
Don't forget that Ithaca Tofu and Tofu-Kan are back! Susie's Seitan (Vegan Epicure) has taken over. There were some shortages the first week, but everything is up to full production now. Here is a little article I found about Vegan Epicure. This is pre-tofu....
We are having an olive oil tasting this weekend; please check our events page for details. Also on the events page (scroll down) is a photo of the Ithaca Festival logo for this year and a link to their site. We have the new t-shirts (many different colors this year) and they are selling quickly.
Thanks,
Mike
