If you are visiting Hammond Hill Forest on another day for
recreation (not a part
of a Mike or Raylene outing), you can park at the official parking lot
off of Hammond
Hill Rd (off Irish Settlement
Rd which is off Rt. 13). Look for the "P" on the map below or park at the end of Canaan Rd. or Star Stanton Rd. (don't block
snowplow turnarounds).
You should avoid hiking and biking trails Y6 and Y1 near the "P" parking lot in the spring or when
generally wet - those
trails are soggy and get too much traffic: Please, choose an alternate
route and parking area.

2005. Do a "view image" or "save image as" for a larger more detailed
view. Includes the latest officially sanctioned DEC trails Y7 and
Y8. Just a reminder: These are multi use trails as designated by
NYS DEC. They should not be considered as "ski" trails or any
other single use designation. This is a friendly reminder to prompt you
to be courteous to all other legal trail users when on public land. Of
course it is for example polite etiquette to ski off to the side
of snowshoe tracks and visa versa [lol
.. couldn't resist -:) ] and yield to horses etc ... this kind
of courtesy should
work in all directions. Motor vehicles are prohibited on trails at
Hammond Hill and NYS forested lands in general. Thanks for your understanding. Mike
