"OK! Back to
business.
I have
fabulous news! Our DEC will be providing all the materials we need
to fix Yellow Trail One ON STATE PROPERTY. That means we will have the
gravel and geofabric to repair the stretch of Yellow One from
where it leaves my property all the way up to the T intersection.
Thank you DEC!!! This development is greatly appreciated!
This means we
will only have to raise funds for the section of Yellow One that
crosses my property. Jim Spear, I need CNC
permission to proceed with repairs on this section of trail ... can I
get that from you and the B of D? The trail easement is still
owned by Cayuga Nature Center and is in the process of being turned
over to the state, but the wheels in Albany are turning too slowly
to have this process done by the time we want to work on the
trail, therefore the DEC cannot contribute materials for this
part. Unfortunately it is one
of the slimiest sections of the trail. I will get cracking
on those RSVP cards and posters, so we can get some funds coming
in to support the purchase of gravel and geofabric for this
portion of trail.
I now have the
sign-up sheets for Adopt A Natural Resource insurance, so will have
that available for volunteers for the trail work day on June
13th as well as the Block Party on August 21.
Although the
DEC equipment is not available, we can use personal motorized equipment
to assist us on repairing the trails [with permits from DEC for this
one time use]. Those of you who have farm
and construction "bobcats," sturdy lawn tractors and wagons, small
tractors (quite small!) we need your help to move the
gravel from the end of the trail up to where it will be spread out
by people with strong backs and shovels. Please contact
me ASAP. I have to let the DEC know who will be doing this
work and they need to draft an approval letter for us to use these,
prior to the work day.
I will be
contacting my "point" individuals concerning various groups' activites
in the days ahead; by all means please feel free to write me,
too... it will be most helpful and appreciated.
Thanks
everyone!
Ann Leonard"
