heartache in
all its forms. They have performed at venues such as the Newport Folk Festival
and the Kaufman
Center, Merkin Hall in NYC, and played with Jesse Winchester,
The Levon Helm
Band, Hazel Dickens, Alice Gerrard, Laurie Lewis, Dudley Connell, Marshall Wilborn,
Tony Trischka,
and Barry Mitterhoff. They were also selected to
perform in Fall 2005 for juried showcases at the 2005 Western Arts
Alliance in Albuquerque NM, and at the Performing Arts
Exchange in Memphis, Tennessee. At Merlefest 2004 they performed
and won best country song in the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest for Sarah's song,
"Forgiveness." There were 894 entries. Sarah's original song "Going
Home Shoes" was included in the Fall 2004 Sing Out!MagazineNew CD from Crow Marley
adee
art "The Squire" - 2001 acrylic. available at Ludgate Farms Crow's latest release "many hands" is now available. Crow is an environmental, feminist, funk, folk, fusion artist. She resides in the Finger Lakes Region of
upstate New York.
Crow's background in music is over 30 years and counting.
She is the mom of four, granny of two and recently the
focus of some folks attention because of the music she writes,
plays and sings.
Crow has studied classical, plectrum and experimental guitar
techniques most of her adult life. She has also taught guitar
and music theory for many years. Before deciding to perform
professionally, Crow earned an English/Creative Writing degree
in 1992 (focus Poetry, graduated with honors as an 'older
student') from Wells, a small women's college in upstate New York.
Crow's guitar playing is highly technical, she practices rigorously
and over the past 10 years has developed her own style of using the
guitar as an extension of her work in the field of art."I have always
enjoyed making
faces. Over-exaggerating my expressions, seeing other faces in extreme
unusual smiles. Babies, elders, siblings, strangers. I started
photographing faces of pals very close up, causing the face to fill the
frame."Jsan and the Analogue Sons For well over a decade, the members of Jsan and the Analogue Sons have been bringing sweet music to the ears of the Ithaca music scene. With the release of the long awaited self titled debut album from Jsan and the Analogue Sons, this group of Ithaca's finest will soon be sharing their music with the world. Jsan and the Analogue Sons blend the classic sounds of
70's soul
with reggae, hip hop and funk creating a modern sound with a decidedly
urban flavor that will at times make the dance floor tremble, and then
make it sway... Jsan's incredibly powerful vocals are reminiscent of
the great soul singers of any era, the burning brass section's (Lee
Hamilton and Alejandro Bernard) explosive horn lines permeate each
song, and the nuanced, resonant sound of the bass provided courtesy of
Mike Stark's Hammond organ coupled with Matthew Saccuccimorano's
precise drumming bring the rhythm to another level.

with 13 years of professional experience, including 8 years in marketing
and advertising. Her studio is in her home, in Ithaca, NY, where

and raised in Ithaca, she earned her BFA in Photography at Montserrat
College of Art in Beverly, Mass.
Rachel offers photography for weddings and special events, portraits (people and pet), real estate and commercial products, and corporate exhibitions. Her photographs have been used in hundreds of advertisements, including roadside billboards, and they appear on avariety of websites. Her fine-art photographs, which have been described as "portraying the quiet beauty of everyday objects and architecture," have been exhibited in art shows throughout the Northeast. Many of these photographs are available on her greeting cards. For graphic design, Rachel has produced brochures, logos, business cards, menus, labels and all-manner of advertisements, for clients ranging from boutiques, restaurants and Realtors, to slam-poetry campsand other photographers. When employed in newspaper marketing/advertising, she won several New York Newspaper Marketing and Advertising Executives awards. http://www.rachelphilipson.com ASHnatko Designs ... "My photographs range from realistic landscapes of fields and waterfalls to abstractions of natural objects. I find a great sense of peace and pleasure when
I am deep in a natural landscape and I wish to convey that peace through my
landscape photographs. Thus, in attempting to communicate my emotions to others,
even to have others share these emotions, I am involved in making fine art. The
abstract photographs come from the compelling interest I have in focusing on the
minute details that make up the beauty in those landscapes that I admire." [ Artist Web Site ]Frog Hill Pottery ... The Artist: "Scott VanGaasbeck has lived in the Ithaca area since 1988. In his hand thrown pottery he integrates the spontaneity of the process with simple, functional design. Influences include Chinese Sung ceramics and the strong forms of medieval European common ware.
He
feels a truly good pot is born, rather than simply made. “I can provide
guidance, nurture and protect a pot through careful craftsmanship and
attention to detail, but its success requires more — a moment of
inspiration, a sincere love of my work, and the blessing of the fire”." A basic selection of Frog Hill Pottery is available all
year round, 7 days a weeks at Ludgate Farms in Ithaca, NY.
In Memory of -- Bente Starcke King Crabapple and Washington Thorn" - 1999 watercolor and colored pencil "It is a pleasure, through teaching, to help others discover the beauty in details of plants." More from the art department... Practical and beautiful .... a picture is worth many of my words... We now have a great selection of hand
made cutting boards. These are carefully crafted from the finest
hardwoods in the Ithaca workshop of Bill Baker of Plum Creek Designs.
They are sanded to a smooth finish and sealed with a non toxic
vegetable sealer. Bill recommends walnut oil (which is available at
Ludgate's too) to maintain their natural beauty.Susan Verberg - Photography "It fascinates me to create a photograph so that it becomes real and alive and the viewer actually
enters the image. I hope that, in a small
way, my photographs will help others realize the natural magic of our
environment, replacing arrogance and carelessness with respect and
recognition, and above all help them to share with others the
incredible world that exists around us."Roothless Design and Graphics Many of our customers and vendors know Janet as our accountant bookkeeper. She also has her own graphics business: "In 2004 Janet decided

structure. Combined with her interest and commitment to the environment
she also is drawn to architecture. She sees elements of design in both
the natural environment and in man-made structures. She is continually
drawn to explore the relationship of light and form in a variety of
settings." Check out Jennifer's new website [ here ]
eggs" "The tradition of Ukrainian egg dying predates Christianity, and yet the symbolisms of design and color span both Pagan and Christian practices. The eggs are dyed in successively darker colors using a wax relief process that is similar to batiking. Most artists now employ symbolism that is both traditional in its religious designs and inventive in new creative patterns." Theresa may be reached at tgeorge1@twcny.rr.com
